Springtime is a good time to plant trees!
Thinking of planting a tree in your yard this spring? Now is the time to do it! Ladd Roberts of Mid-South Tree Farm says trees in our area should be planted no later than mid-April to get ahead of Memphis’ dreaded summer heat, which can be especially hard on newly planted trees.
Wondering what kind of tree to plant? You can start by checking out the species in the Avon Woods Arboretum trees list and browse our site to see what full-grown specimens are successfully growing in our neighborhood.
For additional information on tree species, we recommend these sites:
Wondering where to buy a tree? We recommend Mid-South Tree Farm, a fantastic source for shade and ornamental trees suitable for our area and sold at wholesale prices. They’re located in Halls, Tenn., but they will deliver to your door for as low as $10. Their trees are grown in the field, so they are well acclimated to our soil and climate, and ready to take off growing in your yard. The owner, Ladd Roberts, is eager to help you select the right tree.
Tree experts recommend planting young and smaller trees, as they will adapt faster and grow faster than the larger, more expensive trees.
